We’re looking for a Business Development Manager on behalf of a medium-sized food ingredients supplier.
This is a business that will appeal to you if:
- You appreciate being able to be agile with customers and enjoy being given the freedom to do things your way, putting your customers’ needs first (there’s no “one size fits all” corporate mentality here)
- You’re a believer in constant development – with regular tailored training sessions
- You recognise how strong marketing support can make your job a little bit easier
- You enjoy working from home but also like to get hands-on with customers wherever possible
- You like a mixture of managing existing accounts but also targeting new customers
With a diverse portfolio of ingredients to offer, including some really innovative products, you’ll travel mainly across the southern half of the UK, managing customers across the entire food manufacturing sector, but with a particular weighting towards bakery and savoury focused producers.
There’ll be opportunities to increase the volume into existing customers, cross-sell and also target totally new business – so this will suit someone who can manage their time well, recognise openings and capitalise on them.
If this sounds like the sort of opening you’d like to explore, this is what we need to see in your background:
- At least 3 years’ experience in selling a range of food ingredients into UK manufacturers
- A degree of technical understanding of the applications on which you’ve focused
- Specific examples of success in either growing existing accounts, winning new customers or ideally, both
Naturally, in joining a relatively small team, you’ll be someone who develops excellent internal relationships and wants to be involved in team get-togethers – in a tough industry, a sense of humour goes a long way! Some exposure to the bakery sector would definitely be an advantage.
